KAMPUS - exhibition
Exhibition visual identity, 2004

As a part of a seminar concerning the development of the campus of the Helsinki University of Technology, an exhibition of the works of the architecture department was held. The exhibition had its own identity that was reflected in the logo, signage and other graphics.

The design of the logo had two main elements - a firm but casual typographic treatment of the text "kampus" mixed uppercase and lowercase letters to create an easily recognizable but "impersonal" logotype that was displayed in white on a red-brick background, that acted as a reference to the reigning material of the campus-area as well as a reminder of the brick as a basic unit in construction of solid and grounded architecture. The nuanced, burnt red of the brick was used as the identifying colour of the exhibition: as a background for a large map of projects as well as the main surface in a triptych of campus-views that was used for covering the last wall of the small gallery space - with images representing ways forward - openings, windows and stairs in the campus building complex.

The exhibition furniture and layout of boards and models was designed togeher by Tommy Kaj Lindgren and Ilkka Salminen.
